I did a ten day silent meditation retreat 2 month ago:

Just back from 10 day silent meditation retreat:

Vipassana Meditation Website

It was no vacation and it was definitely not a picnic, but amazingly satisfying.

My first few days were spent trying to get my mind quiet, and body
to stop yelling that it doesn't want to sit in this position anymore.

Don't worry though, they don't make you stop moving, its just a goal.

People sit in everything from lotus to strait back chairs and everything in between.

Vipassana was a lost Buddhist teaching , at one time (500 BC to early AD) it was
known thru-out India and further.

Re-found being practiced in a small Monastery in Burma last century,
having been practiced continuously there for nearly 2000 years, an in its original
sandcript form.

It is not a religion or a dogma, one of its basic tenants being:

Craving and aversion = Suffering / unhappiness.

It heavily involved with the mind and body connections.

It is, and can only ever be your introspection that comes out of the process.

Learning to sit for one hour without moving is intricate part of it,
while being aware of my mind and using mind as a healing agent, as well as
developing powers of detachment to perceived pain.

My belief is that anyone on a spiritual or interested in a spiritual path would
benefit from this technique, and most especially Chronic pain sufferers.

Before I went,10 days seemed like a lot of time to put in to this,

Now afterward, when I think of how many years it could have taken to get
the knowledge and benefits of Vipassana, if I ever got them, I am so Grateful.

It is a Monastic lifestyle for 10 days, look Ma I'm a Monk!

Blissed Up,

Eric

PS- contact me if you thinking about doing it, I'll give you more details.
